From the 16th century to the middle of the 19th century, the area of the present-day Žvėrynas belonged to one of the most honourable relatives of the country – Radvilos, who had a hunting reserve there. Žvėrynas was always a favourite place for walks in the city, and when water resorts and baths were opened there in the 19th and 20th centuries, the district transformed into one with a real resort vibe. Today, this green district stands out from other parts of the city with its architecture and atmosphere. The 108 wooden houses of Žvėrynas give the district a special aura, and their colours brighten everyday life. Have a refreshing walk exploring the gems of Lithuanian wooden architecture
