Dominikonų street has seen a lot of history. It is fully built with palaces of Lithuanian noblemen. With time palaces became shops and other places for culture. For example the first book shop selling books only in Lithuanian language - Šlapelių knygynas. It was opened by Lithuanian lady who was determined to spread Lithuanian word after ban of Lithuanian language by tsar occupation which ended in 1904. Because of the unique architecture this street is often chosen for film set. You can find a lot of cafes here that are definitely worth visiting
