Hike
Hike
$$
8+h
You will take a bout tour from Nuuk to the shoreline in Sermitsiaq Bay. From there the hike towards the peak starts. There is a break every 400 metres of altitude, which equates to once every hour. Ropes will be used to help with difficult places.
CLOTHING
There are four situations to be aware of when it comes to clothing during the trip, and they are as follows:
THE SAILING TRIP
A flotation suit will be provided for the sailing trip, but you must bring your own gloves and hat.
THE ACTUAL TRIP TO THE SUMMIT
The trip lasts approximately 5 hours towards the summit, where you will be active. You will sweat, so it is important to dress appropriately for the hike.
I recommend that you wear hiking trousers or other trousers that are suitable for exercise. The key is that they are relatively windproof, as it can get windy and cold. For your upper body, I would recommend wearing a sweat-wicking sweater, such as a woollen sweater. You should also bring a windproof and waterproof jacket to wear if it gets windy or chilly.
BREAKS DURING THE TOUR
The trip is long and will require breaks along the way. That’s why it’s important to bring an extra sweater so you can change your sweaty shirt and keep warm while you take a break. I would also recommend that you bring a warm jumper for breaks. This could be a fleece jacket, down jacket or a thick woollen jumper.
THE SAILING TRIP HOME
The journey home is often cold. Therefore, it is important to bring a change of clothes that you can wear during the sailing trip.
