What you’ll do

Tucked away in the southeast corner of Skåne, in southern Sweden, Österlen is a little Swedish paradise that embodies absolutely everything I love about living in southern Sweden. A popular summer haven for city dwellers, Österlen is a place where creatives and artists live and congregate. It is a region full of century-old cottages, antique shops, art galleries, incredible restaurants and farm hotels, hiking trails, quaint fishing villages, and the most beautiful Swedish beaches.

When I first visited Österlen I was completely wrapped up in the charm of it all. This 4 day, 3 night self-drive itinerary gives you plenty of time to experience the region and allows for some time to unwind, too. NOTE: Österlen is a seasonal destination with many places closing in the winter months. If you're planning to visit, the best time to go in the Spring and Autumn shoulder seasons. If you're planning to visit in the summer months, make sure to make all bookings including restaurant reservations 2-3 months in advance.

Hop in your car and head out to Österlen! On the way to your first hotel, stop in Skåne-Tranås for lunch and a fika. Tonight you'll be staying at my favourite hotel in all of Sweden, which is located in the rolling hills of Brösarp backar and has the most amazing on-site restaurant. Check in, take a hike around the beautiful surroundings, and then settle in and enjoy a world-class dinner.
