The Sun Voyager is a stunning sculpture created by Jón Gunnar Árnason, located next to the Sæbraut road in Reykjavík, Iceland. Intended to represent progress, freedom and hope, the sculpture was born from an artistic expedition that took him to many picturesque places in the world; Árnason’s vivid memories of this journey inspired him to create the work. Constructed of stainless steel and granite, the sculpture stands 9 meters tall and 7 meters wide. Despite originally intended to be placed facing the setting sun, the sculpture still illuminates with breathtaking beauty today, prompting onlookers to reach out to distant, undiscovered territories.
