Hafrahvammagljúfur Canyon in East Iceland is an amazing hidden gem that shouldn't be missed! With its depths of over 200 meters and extending approximately eight kilometers into Jökuldalur valley, it's truly breathtaking. To get to the canyon, a 4x4 car is necessary, as it is situated off the Ring Road. It’s also possible to hike to the canyon by following an unmarked trail, however this will take around two hours so you'll have to plan accordingly! Once at the canyon, experience its rugged beauty from up above by taking the short, but steep, hike up to the viewing point or explore Dimmugljúfur, the nearby canyon. This is a great location for experienced hikers looking to explore the wild nature of Iceland.
