Arnarstapi is a stunning location in West-Iceland that should not be missed. The impressive harbour lined with pillars of columnar basalt and sea cliff formations make an amazing sight, while the smell from the animals squawking in the area provides a unique experience. Visitors can take a tour of the harbour, observe the beautiful Mt. Stapafell, or take a stroll along the shore to Gatklettur - an arch rock with extraordinary basalt columns. Be sure to pay your respects to the statue of Bárður Snæfellsás, the Protector of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, before taking a short 2.5 km hike through the lava fields to the nearby town of Hellnar. Here, you will find the Visitor Centre for the Snæfellsjökull Glacier National Park, as well as popular eateries, cafes, and hotels. Whether exploring historical sites, following mythological accounts of elves, or simply discovering its natural beauty, Arnarstapi is the perfect destination for any adventurous traveler.
