and interesting: Jón Gunnar Árnason was an Icelandic sculptor and artist who is best known for his iconic piece Sólfar (Sun Voyager), which stands proudly on the Reykjavík seafront. His work often captivated audiences with its harmony of cosmic elements, encapsulated by a maritime motif and abstract expressionism. He also left a lasting impression with many of his sculptures being showcased in galleries in Iceland, Germany, the Netherlands and Norway. Beyond just his renowned illusions of the boundless cosmos, he was also a founding member of the Icelandic Sculptors Society and studied art and engineering in Reykjavík and London. Árnason's remarkable pieces continue to astound viewers today, as a reminder of the untethered power of art.
