Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas is a lagoon located in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It's connected to the Atlantic Ocean through a canal that passes between the neighborhoods of Leblon and Ipanema.
The lagoon is an entertainment place where we locals go for exercise. There is a cycling road along the lagoon where you can go running, cycling, or walking and it is 7km long. The lagoon is also a spot where people practice rowing (there are a few rowing clubs along the shore).
The water from the lagoon is polluted so I really don't recommend swimming, but it is a lovely place to hang out. There are a few bars around the shore and you will have a beautiful view of the mountains of Rio.
