The Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden is a beautiful green area located in the heart of the city. Established in 1808, this botanical paradise spans 54 hectares and showcases over 6,500 plant species from Brazil and around the world.
One of its most known features is the main street with palm trees, which makes for a stunning tropical site. Even though I lived in Rio most of my life, the Botanical Garden is a place I have visited over and over again. I love how you don't feel like you are in such a large city from the minute you step into those gates.
