Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy is a remarkable world heritage site. This historic church and Dominican convent is home to one of the most iconic works of art ever seen – The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. Built in 1463, and designed by the main architect, Guiniforte Solari, the combination of Gothic and Renaissance elements makes this building beautiful inside and out. Besides its famous painting, the sacristy contains frescoes from Bramantino and Bernardo Zenale while the Chapel of the Holy Crown, located at the right of the nave houses a painted altarpiece of Christ receiving the crown of thorns. Besides being a tourist attraction, Santa Maria delle Grazie also hosts events and conferences like musical concerts and artistic exhibitions. One can spend hours here appreciating the amazing architecture as well as the breathtaking artwork.
