Monterosso al Mare is located in the region of Liguria, in Northern Italy. It's one of the five towns that make up Cinque Terre, and the closest to Genoa.
Its charming city centre features typical colourful Ligurian houses, narrow streets and numerous boutiques, shops and restaurants.
Here, you'll find the largest beach in Cinque Terre, with crystal-clear waters, making it the perfect destination for a relaxing day by the sea.
It might not be as scenic as Manarola or Riomaggiore for a swim, I believe it's the best spot for a swim.
Staying in Monterosso al Mare: It's a great option if you plan to visit Cinque Terre, but accommodation prices are quite high. For budget-friendly alternatives, the nearby Levanto or La Spezia are the best options.
Why stay here? it's perfect if you plan to spend a lot of time at the beach, and it's well-connected to other towns
Day trip to Cinque Terre? If you're visiting Cinque Terre for just one day, I'd recommend skipping Monterosso al Mare and focusing on Riomaggiore, Vernazza and Manarola.
