Castel dell'Ovo (Egg Castle in english) is a historic seafront fortress in Naples. Legend has it that the Roman poet Virgil placed a magical egg in its foundations to protect the castle from destruction. Overlooking the Gulf of Naples, this ancient castle dates back to Roman times and has served as a royal residence, prison, and treasury. Today, it's a popular spot for visitors to explore its rich history, enjoy stunning views, and even snap some wedding photos on the causeway connecting it to the shore. With its picturesque setting and intriguing past, Castel dell'Ovo is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Naples.

Nowadays, the castle is closed for renovation works, but make sure to go to this spot anyway. It's lovely at sunset and it's a beautiful and lively part of Naples.
