Castello Doria in Vernazza is a medieval fortress situated atop a rocky promontory. It is an impressive landmark of the Cinque Terre area, which has made it a popular tourist destination. Built centuries ago by the Obertenghi Frankish family and later expanded upon by its other occupants, the cylindrical tower in particular remains as one of its oldest features. The castle was used to protect the village.

To visit the castle the ticket is €2 and it offers unique views over Vernazza. I really enjoyed it and if you have time definitely go. It won't take you long to visit.

It's also on your way to another stunning viewpoint, the one in Sentiero Azzurro, so it's a perfect stop.
