Moneglia is a small town close to Sestri Levante and Cinque Terre in the Liguaria region.
This small village has some of the best beaches in the region and it's way less crowded than other places nearby. If you're looking to enjoy the stunning Ligurian coast, but want somewhere more peaceful, then Moneglia might be the perfect place for you.
The town is well connected to Milan, you can be here in around 2/2:30 hours and to Genoa. It could also be a great alternative for a day trip, or a short weekend from Milan, which was what I did.
It's not far from Cinque Terre either, but personally I wouldn't choose this if you plan to visit Cinque Terre. Unless, you are able to save a lot on accomodation, but for Cinque Terre the cheaper and better option would be La Spezia.
Moneglia has the typical Liguarian town charm, here you can find some great cafés and restaurants, as well as the delicious Ligurian focaccia.
When I visited I was a bit unlucky with the first day as it was cloudy, but the second day it was sunny and incredibly beautiful.
Best time to visit would be from June to September, so you can relax at the beach and enjoy the town to the fullest. As in many summer destination, if you visit during winter months, most places are closed.
