Castel Sant'Angelo is an iconic and fascinating ancient structure in Rome. It is renowned for its tall cylinder-like construction and its long and complex history.
It was initially built as a mausoleum by the Roman emperor Hadrian, but was later taken over by popes who turned it into a fortress and residence. Through the centuries, the building has also served as a prison and now functions as a museum. With artwork and sculptures adorning the exterior, the Castel is a magnificent sight to behold! Inside, visitors can explore its many rooms, as well as its scenic views of eternal city and the Tiber river.
The ticket price is €13 (€3 reduced and free for under 18 years old).
