Benito Juárez, a Mexican national hero and president from 1861 to 1872, was a total badass who fought against foreign occupation under Emperor Maximilian. He believed in constitutional reforms to create a democratic federal republic and was all about that liberal life. Born in 1806, he faced some serious challenges but managed to kick butt and take names, eventually leading Mexico to modernization and freedom from neocolonialism. Overall, Benito Juárez was a true legend who made a lasting impact on Mexican history.
