Echo Farm in Mount Gambier was my very first stop when I entered South Australia, and as someone who adores animals, it was the perfect introduction to the state. For just $15.00 for adults, you dive into an authentic farm experience without burning a hole in your wallet. Upon arrival, you’re handed a bucket of animal pellets, and you’re free to wander around, saying hello to the charming critters.
The farm is home to an adorable mix of animals like alpacas, goats, sheep, chickens, bunnies, emus, guinea pigs, pigs, and, my personal favorite, cows! All the animals are incredibly friendly and not shy about coming up for a pat or snack. The owners were super welcoming, and my sister and I were lucky enough to visit in the late afternoon when we got to help feed the larger animals their dinner. The farm exudes such a warm, inviting vibe that I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it turned out to be. Plus, there’s a lovely picnic area where you can relax and take in the peaceful countryside while enjoying your packed lunch.
