El Poblado

The most popular neighborhood for tourists in Medellin! You will find amazing restaurants and bars in this area and it is absolutely stunning. Everything is so lush and magical all around el Poblado and you will definitely enjoy your time here. It is also very walkable and generally where most visitors will stay! There are a lot of popular things to do in El Poblado besides the amazing food and bars:

  • Santa Fe Mall is incredible and usually has the most elaborate decorations. Mall culture in Colombia is important, so definitely make your way there.

  • Ciclovía happens every Sunday and Public Holiday. This is when an entire boulevard closes down (Avenida del Poblado) for about 6km for bikers, walkers, rollerbladers, any kind of exercise you can think of. It is the best time of the week and you will without a doubt have an incredible time.

Stay: hotels in Manila and Provenza

Eat: Oci.mde, Oni, Relato, Rocoto, Bonhomía, Don Diablo, Carmen

Laureles

Some of the best coffee shops in the city are found in Laureles. Stroll the beautiful plant lined streets and enjoy a cup of coffee at the amazing coffee shops. There are 3 very popular things in Laureles besides the amazing coffee shops and coworking spaces:

  • Parques del Rio, our most favorite park in the city. This beautiful park is so wonderful all day and we highlighy recommend you visit. Grab a local street snack, hang out and people watch as you enjoy a slow evening in the city. There are incredible views and lots to do in this park year round.

  • Estadio - go to a football match at the Stadium and see how locals really celebrate football. There are 2 Medellin football teams (Atlético Nacional and Deportivo Independiente Medellin). Check out Way Colombian Tours for a great local experience at a football match

  • Cra. 70 - this is a go to place for locals. It is a huge street filled with bars, night clubs, restaurants and there is a vibe there all day and all night. If you are looking for a fun off the beaten path night out, definitely check out Cra 70.

Coffee shops: Rituales, Cafe Revolucion, Santa Leña, Cafe Zeppelin

Envigado

A beautiful municipality, just a 10 minute drive from el Poblado! So much culture and energy in this beautiful town and I highly recommend you spend some time exploring. There are 3 real highlights to Envigado,

  • Viva Envigado, which is one of the biggest malls in all of Colombia. You absolutely need to visit this mall because Mall culture here in Colombia is amazing. This mall has a theme park on the rooftop and is always decorated so nicely year around!

  • Parque Principal is the main park of Envigado and it is incredible day and night! The energy at night time, especially around dusk when people are getting of work is so fun. You will see people dancing, hanging out, eating delicious street food.

  • La Buena Mesa - food street in Envigado with lots of trendy bars and restaurants that are an absolute must visit when you're in this beautiful town!

El Centro

This part of town is in the hustle and bustle of the city. El Centro is exactly what it sounds like, in the center of town, where there are lots of businesses, markets, and locals hanging out. I recommend you go to this neighborhood with a tour guide so that they can take you around the areas you want to see. It can be a bit overwhelming to some travelers, but it is an absolute must do when you visit! Here are some things you have to see.

  • Botero Plaza

  • Parque de las luces

  • Palacio de la Cultura

  • Palacio Nacional

  • El Hueco
