Norwegian Christmas tree gift tradition

bericht van Kate Kerr

Every year, the people of Norway gift London a majestic Christmas tree as a thank you for their support during World War II. The tree, usually a 20-meter-tall Norwegian spruce, is carefully selected and brought to Trafalgar Square where it's adorned with traditional lights. The lighting ceremony kicks off the festive season, and after Christmas, the tree is recycled into mulch. Visitors can also enjoy carol singing and a special blessing of the Crib ceremony in this iconic London square.
