Tucked away in Strathcona Park, the Lupin Falls Trail is a short but rewarding 0.8 km loop that winds through beautiful old-growth forest, crosses a few creeks, and leads to a tall, slender waterfall. It's an easy-to-moderate walk, taking about 30 minutes, making it a great stop whether you're out for a casual hike or scouting for new photography spots.

That said, photographing Lupin Falls can be tricky. It's a tall, narrow cascade without any dramatic features, and I tend to favour waterfalls that tumble over rocks in veils or sheets rather than a straight drop. But that's just me—if you enjoy capturing the beauty of a classic pencil-thin waterfall framed by lush forest, it's worth visiting.

Pro tip: The trailhead parking is easy to miss on the winding road, so watch for it. Also, if you're in the area, check out Karst Creek Falls and Myra Falls, which offer more dynamic waterfall photography opportunities and are nearby.

Even if Lupin Falls doesn't make your top five for waterfalls, it's still a lovely walk and a great excuse to explore Strathcona Park.
