Jug Handle State Natural Reserve is a rad spot on the California coast that's all about showcasing some seriously cool ecological succession. With five terraces representing different stages of environmental evolution, this place is like a living textbook for nature lovers. From the coastal views to the Pygmy Forest inland, it's a unique journey through time and landscapes. The trail is relatively a soft adventure despite being 5.2 miles in length. With minimal elevation gain, incredible bluff and coastal views, as well as getting to experience the five terraces, this is definitely a hike you will want to do!

Pet-friendly: Yes, but only on the beach and bluff portion of the trail, dogs are not allowed on the portion of the trail east of Highway

Soft adventure: Yes

Seasonality: All seasons

Fee: None
