bericht van Where The Kids Roam

Our kids absolutely flipped when they saw this shrine - actual wild boars instead of the usual guardian lion-dogs! If you've got Demon Slayer fans in your family, watching them make the connection between Inosuke's boar mask and these real shrine guardians is priceless.

The story behind the boars is pretty cool too - apparently they saved Wake no Kiyomaro during his exile, which is why this shrine is now known for healing leg injuries. It's one of those perfect spots where anime fandom meets actual Japanese history and folklore.

What makes it extra special is how kid-friendly it is. Between the boar statues they can touch (unlike a lot of shrine statues that are off-limits), and the connection to protecting children (thanks to Wake no Hiromushi's history of caring for war orphans), it really resonates with young visitors.
