Brasserie la Banque brings a slice of classic Parisian charm to downtown Charleston. This elegant yet inviting French brasserie is all about tradition, warmth, and expertly executed cuisine—the kind of place where a perfectly chilled martini, fresh oysters, and a beautifully seared steak feel just as essential as the charming ambiance itself.

The Vibe

Stepping into Brasserie la Banque feels like walking into a timeless Parisian bistro. The space is warm, sophisticated, and effortlessly stylish, with white tablecloths, dark wood accents, and soft, golden lighting that set the tone for a romantic date night, a celebratory dinner, or a leisurely lunch with friends. The bar area is lively and buzzing,while the dining room offers a more intimate, relaxed experience.

What to Drink

🍸 French Martini – Tito’s vodka, Massenez crème de cassis, pineapple, lime—a perfect balance of fruity, tart, and smooth.
🥂 French 75 – Gin, sparkling wine, house citrus—a crisp, refreshing, and timeless classic.
🍹 Madame Matador – Blanco tequila, Aperol, pineapple, orgeat, Angostura, lime—a vibrant, citrusy, and subtly spiced cocktail.

What to Order

Brasserie la Banque’s menu leans into French classics with a Lowcountry touch—rich sauces, decadent flavors, and perfectly cooked proteins.

🦪 Plateau de la Banque – Six oysters on the half shell, cocktail de crevettes, crab ravigote, benne cracker. A must-order for seafood lovers.
🥒 Frenched Oysters – Crème fraîche, cucumber, champagne mignonette, espelette, caviar. Light, delicate, and absolutely luxurious.
🥖 French Onion Soup – Sweet Vidalia onions, provolone, croutons. Rich, cheesy, and perfectly caramelized.
🥗 Roasted Beet Salad – Roquefort, almond, petite greens. Earthy, tangy, and a perfect contrast of textures.
🐌 Escargots – Shallots, garlic, Pernod, fines herbes, brioche crumb, baguette. Classic, buttery, and indulgent.
🥩 Steak Tartare – Certified Angus beef, egg custard, caper, chive, benne cracker. A perfectly balanced tartare with just the right amount of richness and acidity.
🍔 Burger de la Banque – Certified Angus beef, Gruyère, truffle aïoli, arugula, cornichon, pommes frites. A must for burger lovers.
🥩 Steak Frites – Pommes frites, sauce de la banque. Choose between a hanger steak, strip steak, or filet mignon. The hanger is a great deal, but my go-to is the NY strip. You can also order a NY strip à la carte with au poivre, béarnaise, or truffle butter.
🦆 Magret de Canard – Confit duck leg, white bean cassoulet, garlic sausage. Rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying.
🐟 Mussels and Frites – Shallot, fines herbes, and perfectly crisp fries for dipping.

Brasserie la Banque is Charleston’s answer to a classic French brasserie—romantic, refined, and effortlessly chic.Whether you’re craving a glass of Champagne and a dozen oysters at the bar or a full-on, multi-course feast, this is the spot for elevated, traditional French dining done right.

The brunch also looks fantastic, so check it out - I haven't personally had the opportunity to try it out yet though.

📍 Pro Tip: The bar is first come, first served—perfect for a spontaneous martini and steak frites. If you’re planning a weekend dinner, make a reservation! The brunch also looks excellent - but I haven't personally tried that yet.
