bericht van Johan Haugsrud

Located in the charming village of Vikøyri, Vestland, Norway, Hopperstad Stave Church is a mesmerizingly ancient piece of wooden architecture that has stood the test of time. Believed to have been constructed around 1130, this church was saved from being too badly damaged by the Society for the Preservation of Ancient Norwegian Monuments. It is an incredibly popular tourist site and an architectural marvel, making it a sight to behold! Its interesting-looking exterior, including three portals with intricate carvings, and its interior, with its ciborium and colorful paintings on the roof of the baldachin, makes for an experience unique visitors will not soon forget.
