So many messages land in our in box asking ‘how am I going to fit everything into a few days in Tokyo?’
I’m here to tell you, it can be done, BUT you’ll need to travel fast.
The biggest headache for most is figuring out which experiences fit where.
Let’s focus on Tokyo first… Kyoto, Osaka and Kanzawa in our other travel tip posts.
Takeshita Street - a 20 min train ride from Tokyo Station, this is a fun street with delicious food and fun fashion
Meiji-Jingu Shrine - walk 5 mins further and you’ll find this shrine, also worth a visit
Shibuya Scramble Crossing - 2km from Harajuku, head here in the afternoon to watch people scramble across like ants
Street Carting - Another fun one day or night, speeding in a go cart across Shibuya Crossing
Tokyo Metropolitan Building - a 20 min train ride further brings you here for awesome, free views of the city. A great alternative to Tokyo Skytree
Shinjuku 3D Cat Billboard - a 10 min walk will bring you here on dark to watch the cat stretch and carry on on the billboard
Kabukichu Shinjuku - walk here next after dark. Streets full of neon lights and the famous Godzilla head
Omoide Yokocho - This tiny alleyway of food and drink is a 9 min walk from your last stop in Kabukichu. Cutest lit up at night
Golden Gai - 1 more street across from Omoide and you’ll find a cute alleyway clustered with bars. Worth squeezing into a few with max 8 other people. Starts to come alive after 9pm.
Senso-ji Temple - 20 min train ride from Tokyo Station, this is one temple you’ll want to see
Tokyo Skytree - 7 min walk from here is the famous Skytree for city views
teamLab Planets - 25 min train ride from Tokyo Station, an immersive art experience
Toyosu Fish Market - a 10 min walk from teamLab you’ll find a fish market that’s worth a look
We’re not saying you have to do it in this order or all in one day, we just hope this helps you have a clearer plan of attack.
