Niesen is a mountain in Switzerland that has a near-perfect pyramid shape. It only takes 30 minutes to reach the summit of this pyramid-shaped mountain using the funicular railways from Mülenen. From the top, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Bernese Alps, Lake Thun, and the Simmen Valley. The mountain also features a glass pavilion and sun terrace where guests can relax and take in the stunning scenery. For those looking for a challenge, there is the annual Niesen Step-race, which takes place on the world's longest stairway made up of 11,674 steps. Overall, Niesen offers a unique and unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
In case you would like to follow the route I did there is a way up hiking.
HIKE DETAILS:
Buy a ticket for the funicular train at Mülenen and ride the train up to the middle station called Schwandegg. With this ride you save almost 1000 m incline as your ride from 691m all the way to 1668m. Of course if you wish to go hardcore there is way up but not sure you would enjoy hiking from 600m all the way 2362m :)
From Schwandegg follow the sign towards Niesen. You will hike party in a forest area until Räbmattli. Once you reach the top ENJOY THE VIEW! It is insane. Often you can find yourself above the clouds which is such a beautiful sight.
The way up to Niesen from Schwandegg and back down is roughly 7 km with 600 m of elevation gain. It can take 2- 3 hours not including the time spent on the top.
