bericht van Ian G Black

The Tay Road Bridge, spanning the Firth of Tay in Scotland, is a major road link connecting Newport-on-Tay in Fife to Dundee. Opened in 1966, this impressive structure is one of Europe's longest road bridges at around 2,250 meters. Designed by William A Fairhurst, it replaced the old Tay ferry service and has a unique history, including a special commemorative obelisk. After years of tolls, the bridge became toll-free in 2008, much to the relief of many travelers. With its iconic presence and vital role in local transportation, the Tay Road Bridge remains a significant landmark in the region.
