Geysir is an incredible natural phenomenon located in southwestern Iceland. This geyser is known as "The Great Geysir" and can hurl boiling water up to 70 meters into the air. In 1845, Geysir was reported to reach 170 meters in height, making it one of the highest-known erupting geysers in history. It hasn't been active all that often throughout its history but has received attention from the scientific community due to its dramatic eruptions. Visitors to this area can witness not only Geysir, but also the smaller, more frequent eruptions of Strokkur, a nearby geyser in the Haukadalur Valley. What's more, there are about thirty other small hot springs and geysers sprinkled across the landscape, with Little Geysir being the most popular of these attractions. If you're ever in the area make sure to visit Geysir and marvel at the beauty of its eruptions!
