St Martin-in-the-Fields is a Church of England parish church in the City of Westminster, London. Located at the north-east corner of Trafalgar Square, the church has existed since the medieval period, and was rebuilt by James Gibbs in 1722–1726 in an influential neoclassical design. The church's interior features a domed ceiling, wainscotted walls, and an impressive set of galleries. Its exterior was designed to make a grand impression, with a portico supported by towering Corinthian columns and topped with a 192 ft (59 m) spire. Home to many notable burials from Isaac Newton to Viscount Palmerston, the church continues to serve as an oasis for locals with its ever open door policy and work with homeless youth through The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields.
