The Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve is an exciting and beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site located on the island of Praslin in the Seychelles. On this small island, the 19.5 hectare mature palm forest contains remnants of a natural environment that have stayed largely unchanged since prehistoric times. Here visitors can view the world-famous Coco De Mer, the bearer of the largest seed in the plant kingdom, as well as five other native species of palms that are not found anywhere else in the world. The reserve also showcases with its unique natural beauty and scenic settings, including dappled sunlight and a dazzling spectrum of green, red and brown palm fronds. With its rare combination of species and habitats, Vallée de Mai is a living laboratory showcasing what other tropical areas might have been before the introduction of more advanced plant families. A visit to this breathtaking reserve is sure to captivate and inspire every nature lover!
