Spomenik Francetu Prešernu, or the France Prešeren Monument, is a prominent bronze statue located in Prešeren Square (Prešernov trg) in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Unveiled in 1905, it honors France Prešeren, Slovenia's national poet, and stands as a symbol of national pride and cultural identity. The monument features a 3.5-meter-high statue of Prešeren, depicted in period attire and holding a book titled "Poezije" (Poems). Above him, a muse sits on a rock, holding a laurel wreath, symbolizing poetic inspiration. The poet faces the building across the square, where his beloved Julija Primic once lived, adding a personal and romantic dimension to the monument. Designed by architect Maks Fabiani and sculptor Ivan Zajc, the monument is made of Pohorje tonalite and Tyrolian granite. The pedestal includes two bronze reliefs depicting scenes from Prešeren's poems "Črtomir and Bogomila" and "Fisherman," highlighting his literary contributions. Situated near the Triple Bridge and the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, the Prešeren Monument is a central landmark in Ljubljana, often serving as a gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
