bericht van Francesco Meola

The Royal Palace of Caserta, Reggia di Caserta in Italian, is a massive former royal residence in southern Italy. It was built by the House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies in the 18th century. With over 1,200 rooms, 34 staircases, and a theatre modelled after Naples' Teatro San Carlo, it's a palace fit for a king and the largest royal palace in Europe, even bigger than Versailles. The Reggia di Caserta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it's a must-visit if you go to Naples.

I consider it the most beautiful palace I've ever visited, it took me 3 hours and a half to visit it, and I was in awe all the time. Starting from the main staircase you understand that this palace was built to amaze its visitors, each room is stunningly decorated and the level of details is impressive.

Tickets: Make sure to book them online to waste no time at the ticket office, you'll might find a long line. The price is €18, and it includes the palace and the gardens. I recommend doing both. Alternatively, you can just visit the palace for €12 or just the gardens for €9. The first Sunday of every month is free :)

I won't take you a full day to visit it, but at least 5 hours or a bit more.
