bericht van Gemma, Off Track Travel

This small park on the south side of Nanaimo features an impressive collection of First Nations rock art carvings, known as petroglyphs. These ancient carvings are embedded in a sandstone gallery on a hill with views overlooking the city.

Petroglyph Provincial Park's interpretive area offers information about the potential meanings of the petroglyphs, along with historical context. Concrete replica castings are also available for paper rubbings (bring your own supplies).

Note that Petroglyph Park is only accessible when travelling northbound on Highway 1.
