Colorado weather can be crazy. You want to be well-prepared. Here are 5 day hike essentials I always recommend when hiking in Colorado.
Here are 5 hike essentials I always recommend when hiking in Colorado.
Navigation
Make sure to get familiar with the trail you're about to hike. Tell someone where you're going, and bring lots of extra water and food.
Headlamp
I always carry a little flashlight with me. Sometimes even when I start early a hike can carry on into the late afternoon. I've been stuck hiking in the dark, trust me, you don't want that.
Sun Protection
The sun in Colorado is NO JOKE. Protect your skin by putting on 50+ SPF sunscreen, a sun hat, sun protection clothing, and sun glasses.
First Aid
Accidents happen. You want to make sure you are well-prepared if they do. I always bring pain meds and bandaids.
Knife
Protection, cutting food, or for emergences, whatever you want to call it, having a knife on hand is always... handy!
