How to properly navigate van life in the Swiss Alps
Sleeping in your campervan overnight (outwith a dedicated campsite) is considered as "wild camping" in the swiss alps and just like sleeping in a tent, it is subject to restrictions. Here are a few tips to help you navigate van life in the swiss alps.
Don't make it obvious
Generally you will be let alone if you don't make it obvious that you are camping
Avoid putting out table, chairs and your awning in you are not in a dedicated campsite
Leave No Trace
Dispose of waste at proper disposal points.
Avoid dumping grey water or any waste in nature.
Sleep on Mountain Passes
Typically mountain passes (high alpine roads) are the best place to wild camp in the swiss alps without facing any issues
Park4night is an app that you can use to find campsites and wild camping spots that other van lifers have slept at and reviewed. It's a fantastic way to find overnight parking where you won't have any issues.
Van life is the swiss alps is by far one of my favourite ways to explore the mountains you can see 10x more without breaking the bank. If you don't already have a camper van check out roadsurfer, the have the coolest campers and are significantly cheaper than other companies on the market.
