HohSaas is a mountain resort in the Saas valley in southern Switzerland. This downhill scooter run starts at the Kreuzboden station, descending 11 km on bumpy roads with gorgeous views. My boys loved it but I found the terrain very challenging, dare I say unpleasant. Not my favorite ride.
Before the scooter ride, we like to ride up to the highest station and do the short Panorama Peak trail, where you can get close to the glacier and spy eighteen mountain peaks over 4000m tall. Then ride the gondola down to Kreuzboden, which has a big playground, sensory trail, and restaurant.

You'll need to a ticket to ride up the gondola to Kreuzboden and then pay for the scooter rental separately.

Scooter Route
It's an 11 km route, starting at Kreuzboden and ending at Saas Grund at the valley cable car station. The first part is on a rough dirt service road, with lots of ruts, rocks and bumps. That part was rather dangerous, with the scooter bucking up towards our faces when it hit an obstacle. I was sure I would lose some teeth by the end. And my hands were exhausted from holding the brakes so tightly. Definitely the most difficult scooter ride we've done.
Eventually you join a paved road, which you follow the rest of the way. On this section, you share the road with the occasional farm vehicle accessing the alps, so keep your eyes and ears open.
How to get there
The Saas Grund Hohsaas gondola is located at Seilbahnstraße 18, 3910 Saas-Grund. The scooter run is at the Kreuzboden middle station.
Note: The Saastal area has another scooter run at Furggstalden, which is 3.5km on a paved road, much easier.
