The Ink Pots are a collection of vibrant, mineral-rich spring pools set in a stunning alpine meadow in Banff National Park. Reaching them is a rewarding experience, with two route options to choose from.

The most popular approach is via Johnston Canyon (11.7 km round trip), where you’ll pass dramatic waterfalls and traverse catwalks through a deep limestone gorge before continuing through the forest to the Ink Pots. For a quieter, less crowded alternative, the Moose Meadows route (11.4 km round trip) offers a more gradual ascent through peaceful woodlands.

Whichever route you take, the destination is well worth it. The brilliant blue-green pools are fed by underground springs, creating a mesmerizing effect as they bubble to the surface. Surrounded by mountain views and open meadows, the Ink Pots are the perfect spot for a scenic break before heading back down.
