Intro to Bangkok
In all honesty, as you know, we live here, you can stay for 5-10 years but if you are pushed for time on your short trip then I would budget your days to be a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 7 days.
Bangkok is the central hub of Thai with two main international airports, suvarnabhumi & Dom Mueng. You’re likely going to be flying into one of these airports if you are coming into Thailand.
Getting from the airport into the main city will cost you between 350-500 thb, taxis are the best option, you can find the taxi rank on the bottom floor of Suvarnabhumi Airport and on the left side when you exit the baggage collection area of Dom Mueng airport.
There is another option which is the airport rail link from Suvarnabhumi but if you are traveling with a lot of luggage you probably don’t want to be navigating the walks, gates and masses of people. Fares on the train go from 30-50 thb per person, if you’re in a group its worth getting a taxi direct to your hotel, the stations for the rail links are not near the hotel areas and you’ll find yourself getting in a taxi anyway
Taxi tip:
Download Grab app for taxis - You can easily link your credit or debit card and the fee just gets deducted on completion of the journey
Download Bolt (apple link), Bolt (Android link) for cheaper taxis - (cash only)
These are areas that will leave you dead center of town, where the action is, the transport, the bars, restaurants, clubs, highways, rooftops. You want to position yourself here and here only!
Asoke, Thonglor, Ekkamai, Phra Khanong, Phrom phong, Onnut, Siam, Lumpini
