Estreito da Calheta, also known as Calheta, is a charming seaside town on Madeira's southern shoreline, and is where we stayed on our first trip to Madeira. Its great if you're looking for a quiet town near the sea to base yourself while you explore Madeira. It's also slightly cheaper than staying in or around Funchal, so you're more likely to find better deals on apartments and houses!
