Takkoku-no-Iwaya Bishamondō is a Buddhist temple located in Hiraizumi, Japan. Founded in 801 AD by Sakanoue no Tamuramaro, it houses a stone image of Bishamon-ten and features a cave with bas-relief statues. The temple has a rich history, having been rebuilt multiple times, with the current building modeled after Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto. Despite its significance, Takkoku-no-Iwaya was not included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site nomination for Hiraizumi, but efforts are ongoing to secure its recognition in the future.
