The San Juan Spruce is Canada's largest Sitka spruce tree, the second largest in the entire world! It is located in a unprotected grove about 35 minutes drive from Port Renfrew.

The access road is an unpaved industrial road and a high clearance vehicle is preferable. Give way to industrial traffic, drive with your headlights on, bring a good spare tire. There is no phone signal - tell someone where you are going. Detailed directions are available on the Ancient Forest Alliance website, do not use Google Maps.

Recent updates indicate that an additional 3km detour is necessary from the regular route due to bridge construction. The tree is only visible from the road as there is now a gate.
