At 2423m, Frosty Mountain is the highest peak in E.C. Manning Provincial Park. The 21km return trail to Frosty's summit is one of my favourite day hikes in BC. Plan to spend 7-9 hours on this moderate to challenging trail.
The panoramas from Frosty Mountain are spectacular, encompassing boundless views of rugged mountain ranges in both Canada and the US.
The Frosty Mountain hike is most popular in late September/early October when the larch forest (located two thirds of the way to the summit) turned golden. While it is a very beautiful time to go, keep in mind that the trail is very busy on weekends and the weather can be cold and snowy.
