Just south of Courtenay lies the small seaside community of Royston. The Royston Seaside Trail winds along the shore, offering beautiful views toward Comox and Goose Spit Park.

In the 1930s, large sailing ships and tugboats were deliberately sunk in the Royston area to protect a nearby log boom operation. Today, the rusting remnants of these ships still remain.

Park at the end of Hilton Road and spot the wrecks from the viewpoint/picnic area. If you're up for a walk, take the 2.2km round-trip gravel Seaside Trail toward Chinook Road.
