Manning Park's Blackwall Road leads from the highway up to the subalpine, where the meadows bloom with vibrant wildflowers from late July to mid August (timing varies from year to year). The short 1km long Paintbrush Trail showcases views of surrounding mountains and the colourful meadows.
Blackwall Road is not paved beyond the Cascade Lookout at 7.8km, so keep that in mind if you are driving a rental vehicle. The final 6km is unpaved and can be bumpy in areas.
The Paintbrush Trail is very popular on summer weekends. If you can, visit on a weekday or early/late on weekends.
