Kicking Horse Campground is a convenient base camp when exploring Yoho National Park.
It has a real mix of sites, with 1-39 set into the forest, 73-89 in an open RV field (no fire pits) and the rest in a semi-open landscape. The best sites, in my opinion, are the ones set along the Kicking Horse River (42-48, 69-71). Some of them have really great views.
All sites are unserviced, with no electricial power available. The washroom block has big, private shower rooms with plenty of hot water. The campground does get some noise from the highway and nearby railway line, but not as much as nearby Monarch Campground.
Reservations for Kicking Horse open in January each year - book via the Parks Canada website.
A Parks Canada parks pass is required to stay at this campground ($22/day for vehicle with up to 7 people).
