The entrance to Strathcona Provincial Park is marked by a large wooden elk carving. This spot is an ideal place for a picnic along Highway 28, with picnic tables and a few outhouses.

Though there is no direct access to the water, you can enjoy stunning glimpses of Upper Campbell Lake and the surrounding mountains.

The elk statue also offers a great photo opportunity. Keep an eye out for real elk as you drive from Campbell River to Gold River, as the forest to the north of Highway 28 is home to several large herds.
