Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park is an expansive protected area surprisingly close to the city of Vernon. It hosts a large network of biking and hiking trails as well as a number of beautiful beaches.
From the Yellow Gate entrance, it is short hike to Juniper and Jade beaches. Those who make the effort will find pretty twin bays with warm, crystal clear water. Both are great to swim from!
For a short hike, consider the 2.5km long Rattlesnake Point loop. The destination is the tip of a rocky peninsula jutting into Kalamalka Lake, with views of the lake's intense turquoise colours as well as the rolling grasslands beyond the lake shore.
