Lightning Lake in Manning Provincial Park is an ideal halfway (ish) stop betweeen Vancouver and the Okanagan Valley. The day-use area has picnic tables, access to the refreshingly cold water and canoe rentals.

Alternatively, follow the mostly flat trail around the lake - there's a short loop (4.5km) and a longer one (9km).
