Have time for a 4-6 hour hike while in the Revelstoke area? Check out the 14km return Eva Lake Trail in Mount Revelstoke National Park. It could also be hiked as an overnight backpacking trip.
Most of the elevation to this beautiful alpine lake is completed on the Meadows in the Sky Parkway, allowing for a relatively flat hike. The trailhead is located at 1778m in the summit area of Mount Revelstoke (1km from the parking area).
Around early August, the meadows along the start of the trail burst into colour with incredible displays of wildflowers
The climbs and descents are steady and intercepted with long, flat sections. There are also plenty of scenic vistas along the way. A worthy detour is the 800m return trip to Miller Lake at the 5.4km mark. While not quite as beautiful as Eva Lake, it's still a lovely place to stop for a sit-down and snack.
For more info, read this comprehensive hiking guide. To drive the Meadows in the Sky Parkway, you must have a valid Parks Canada day pass - $22/family. If you don't already have one, there is an admission booth at the start of the Parkway. No dogs permitted.
